So it all started with a conversation one day while sitting in Culina Muttart with Brad Lazarenko….how on our farm we have a very old, very rustic barn, I have always dreamed of having a barn party in. So with a little elbow grease, little decorating, our rustic barn became the site for Culinapalooza 2011…aka the Culina staff party.
Our barn
Brad has some really great, creative minds at Culina. Above is the ad Stacey created for the event.
Of course, the menu was based around a whole lamb roast. After some discussion, a Mexican theme was set!
Shayne got to get his hands in there too, making sure the seasoning was just right.
The table was set, candles lit, just waiting for the sun to go down.
Decore was simple; red table clothes, covered with burlap, saddle, mason jars and of course our customized tin cans!
Let’s just say, a month supply of tin cans from Culina Millcreek, with some shotguns, made for a really fun day for the boys, and a great decoration for our barn party!
The overall effect was simple, but stunning.
Drinks were set,
Food was laid out,
And everyone was brought up to enjoy the feast!
The meal consisted of couple different types of fresh salsas, fresh feta and tostados or corn tortillas to make your lamb tacos and complimented by handmade tamales & rice and black beans. It was so fresh & amazing.
After dinner, the party moved out to the campfire, where we had live music from three bands, all consisting of Culina staff members. There is some great talent coming out of this kitchen…
It was a great night, with fantastic food & drinks, music and conversation. It was so wonderful to get to know the Culina staff better, and an honour to have them out to our ranch. Here’s to more meals together…cheers!
